Jim, even if I did know you, I wouldn't go there unless we had that kind of friendship.
I joke around with close freinds like that all the time, but I would never assume it is OK to use that kind of language in public.
Even calling other Blacks "Nigga" which is common place in the city, but not in the burbs, and not in different levels of education. (2 Black Lawyers do not say, "What's up Nigga to each other. They would look like idiots)
I take offense to it from other Blacks, because they are assuming that I am OK with it. I am not. I'm a grown man now, and expect to talked to like one if I am giving the same respect.
Even in my years as a Bartender, (and i have been called every coon, nig, boy, shine, porch monkey, spear chucker, lawn jockey, in the book) I never took it to a personal level that had nothing to do with the situation, and I had a lot of respect from others for not handling it like that.
I can't tell you how many times, I had to throw some jack ass out, and he went racial on me, and I didn't, that the others in the Bar or club would not only have my back, but would throw a couple of extra bucks my way.
Not out of some false guilt, but because of the fact that i handled myself like a man and a gentleman, and in doing so, they felt safe with me at the helm.
You have to seriously walk up to me out of the blue, tap me on the shoulder and say, "I hate Nig**s like you" (which has happened), for me to get angry enough to utterly destroy your face.
People are idiots. that's all there is to it.
There are just as many people that treat their women like shit, treat their kids like dogs, are mean to their parents, and kick their dogs.
It humans, and some people are just jack asses.
as long as they stay out of my space and don't sign my checks, ...Fuck 'em, keep that shit in your garage where it belongs.
