Jesus was a true historical figure who made an impact on many religions (even the Muslum religion sees Jesus as a prophet). However, like playing telephone, over the years the story changed and changed and became more and more glorified until suddenly he wasn't just a man, he was all these other things too. None of the scriptures in the bible were written exactly contemporary with Jesus's life... in fact the vast majority were written after Jesus was already dead and many years had passed. I'm sure there's NO embellishment there (like there is in every single set of religious texts since time immemmorial... religion IS ABOUT embellishment). There is lots of historical evidence that says that Jesus was a real man, and I'm sure no man since has left such an impact on millenia of people who followed him. He was still a man though after all.
