I made a mistake in my post. With the garnishment they decide that disposable income is considered after taxes are taken out. They no longer figure in living expenses. They do have to leave him at least 30 times the federal minimum wage per week.
Here is an example where we say he makes $10 per hour.
40hrs X 10 = $400 per week
Taxes (roughly 20% depending on the state) so that leaves around $320
25% of 320 is $80
they can take $80 per week from him.
