Okay, because this makes you feel so good and I love you, I'm going to make you feel even BETTER.
My tag renewal comes up in July of every year. Last July, I went to the courthouse, stood in line, paid my money, and got my new 2007 sticker. When I got to the parking lot, I went to the back of my car to put the sticker on over the old one and stopped when I saw "2005". I stood there for a minute wondering if the tag place had given me the wrong sticker and was just about to walk back in, when it hit me. Clear as day.
The year before, a huge thunderstorm popped up while I was inside waiting in line. I had no umbrella, so I made a mad dash for my car when I left. I decided I'd wait to put the sticker on when I was home and parked in my garage where it was dry and warm. And, of course, it never crossed my mind again.
I opened my glove compartment and took out my last year's tag receipt and there was the 2006 sticker, still clipped to the front. I drove around an entire year with an expired tag. And that was a year that my dad was sick and I was on the interstate 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, for six weeks, not counting multiple, multiple other visits. I drove more and put more miles on my car that year, than any other year since I've had a driver's license.
And I never got pulled over a single time.
+1 for the fucking idiots ;-}
