I've actually been doing a lot of research on this lately. I've come down that for anyone who spends a lot of time (8 hours plus) on the chair will need one of the following chairs:

Freedom Chair - humanscale [dot] com
Herman Miller Aeron Chair - dwr [dot] com
Herman Miller Mirra Chair - dwr [dot] com

These chairs aren't for the light pocketbook though, running over 1000$ for almost all of them (in Canadian dollars). Do the math though, buying a new chair every 2 years from Staples or Zellers for 200$, and these have a 10 year warranty at least. So, it's at least equal, or more than equal to the same cost.

Anyway, hope this helps in your search for a good chair. From all the research I've done, it seems the Mirra is the best bang for the buck, and the Freedom Chair is a close second. The aeron is good if you're going for a "cool factor" and want to show it off to a shitload of people as being rich. Otherwise, the Mirra feels better, and costs less, and has more features.

Hope this helps!
