there is a slot inside your iMac on the back behind the little fold-down door that can accept a very specific Apple Airport card and has an internal antenna that plugs into it. unfortunately these cards have not been made in a good while so you would have to hunt around for one, and make sure it comes w/ the needed slot adapter for iMacs (not needed w/ the older iBooks and Powerbooks)... i set up an old pink/strawberry G3 iMac for my mother a couple of years ago and the wireless works flawlessly.

the only other alternative to do it on the cheap is to get a USB wireless adapter, but be warned the performance isn't too great since all G3 iMacs are limited to USB1 so the throughput isn't going to be stellar. hope this helps..!
