I think that it's a display of our society's sexual insecurities that leads us to say parents don't have the right to instruct in such a manner... and only goes to make "sex" a continuing taboo for future generations.

I would think in a truly enlightened society, it'd be fine for parents to say "and this is how we brought you into the world, kiddo" in an effort to make the act of sex appear perfectly normal, and a part of everyday life.
