This is a tough one to call. On one hand, it is definitely outside the bounds of what most of us would call normal behavior. On the other, they weren't forcing her to watch, or making her participate.

I have to say it isn't something I would suggest people do, but I think the sentence was about right. Pretty much a slap up side the head to make them think about it. It wasn't too long ago that 12 years old was considered wife material, and in some communities in the US it still is. Can you say Mormons?

This of course spirals off into a whole argument about how we as a society send massively mixed signals with programs to teach them not to have sex until they are married, counterpoised against Bratz dolls for little kids that are dressed like street hookers, and fashion styles that are highly sexual. I mean what 13 year old really should be wearing low rise pants with thong underwear showing?

Our society is just messed up in the sexuality department.
