The 3rd world is cheap... but with that cheap you get: corruption, infectious disease, financial crises, coups, poor health care, narco states, lack of services, 1/2 capitalists, etc etc.

#4 is an interesting one. The most recent examples are the former Soviet Republics and Tito's Yugoslavia. The wall fell in 1991 and we are now on year 16. There are only a couple I would live in and I would only live in the major cities...

Funny, I was just having a conversation with one of my lawyers today about Bulgaria and the rampant corruption there. Oddly enough, my point of view is that corruption is GREAT when it works for you and not against you. If you know the right people in a lot of those 3rd world countries, you should have a great time.
