Selling Myself

I originally posted this in the Sell and Buy forum back in January. Although I did receive some interest I wasn't able to find a proper fit with a legitimate company. I figured I would give this one more shot before I go back to running adult bookstores...

I see numerous posts from people looking for employment but they usually only consist of one or two lines (i.e. "I need work, hit me up "), with no real attempt made to sell themselves to a potential employer. Well, I apologize in advance for the length of this post, but I am currently seeking employment and feel I should distinguish myself from the others on this board looking for the same.

I believe the best place for me to start would be with my past experience. I have over 10 years experience in the adult industry, although the vast majority is in running adult bookstores and strip clubs. In that time I also assisted in running a warehouse that distributed product to over 50 adult bookstores in both the US and Canada. In performing those duties I believe I have developed sales and customer service skills that are second to none.

In December of 2005 the ownership group I was employed by started to divest itself of all of it's adult businesses in favor of mainstream nightclubs. The 15 stores and 2 strip clubs I ran were split up and sold to various private owners, and the one I was based out of was sold to a large national chain. Although I was offered an excellent position in the new nightclub venture, I had previously spent over a year in Memphis, Tn., opening the first of these nightclubs (I will provide the club URL on request) and had already made the determination that running nightclubs was not for me. As I was a long time employee with the previous ownership group my high salary did not fit in with the salary structure of the new one. When I realized the best I was going to do was take a huge pay cut and only run one store I decided to help them train a new staff and left in March of last year.

In the past year I have worked for several online interests, doing mainly on and off camera work and recruiting of models. I have also recently done a fair amount of writing, including blog entries, web copy, text descriptions, forum populating, etc. All of this time I have been trying to determine what exactly is my niche. Several years ago I had a financial interest in a major single girl site and I have always kept abreast of the goings on in the industry. I've been a regular attendee of the Internext since the IA 2000 in Miami back in 1999, although I was generally too busy with my other responsibilities to explore any online opportunities.

I'd really like to secure employment with an established company that I can grow with. I feel my past experience would allow me to best help a company in terms of sales, webmaster/affiliate relations, marketing, promotions, general customer service/support, etc. Admittedly my technical skills still need a lot of work, but I am working hard to address those shortcomings and am confident I could contribute to a company in that aspect in the future. While you may easily find someone with more online experience you would be very hard pressed to find someone that works harder. I have never been one to cash a paycheck I didn't earn and I don't plan on starting now.

If you are interested and would like to talk further to see if we are a fit you can reach me via ICQ at 432-524-419, or e-mail at sinisterbanana ::at:: gmail ::dot:: com. Thank you for taking the time to read my obscenely long post and I hope to get the opportunity to make someone here a top notch employee.
