Because of the PS3 containing a built in blu-ray player ther are 5X times as many blu-ray players as HD-DVD players. That ratio will only get bigger. That's where Microsoft fucked up not including HD-DVD with the XBOX 360.
Microsoft didn't fuck anything up in that respect. The BluRay in the PS3 is a nice add on, but not needed to play games. It's possible that a number of folks who purchased a PS3 might never even buy or watch BluRay movie. While 100% of the folks that purchase a XBox360 HDDVD player will.

Microsoft gave their consumers a choice and didn't sack them for an additional $200 unless the consumer wanted it.

I've got both. Right now BluRay has a few more titles, while the HDDVD titles are usually $5-10 less than the same title on BluRay.
