.xxx - if you preregistered to prevent cybersquatters, ICANN needs to hear from you

Among the latest documents from ICM, the scumbags are now saying (as everyone predicted they would) that no-cost preregistrations equal support for .xxx

As I stated in my letter to Vint Cerf several months ago, if you suddenly told Coca-Cola or IBM or Amazon that there was a new TLD which they *might* be forced to use at some point in the future, all of those companies would immediately register as a preemptive measure, but this in no way indicates support for the domain.

There is ample evidence of this sort of thing from the past... when .info, .biz and .eu went live, there were huge numbers of trademark preregistrations, yet none of those companies I know of are using their .info or .biz domains as anything other than pointers to their main domains, and so it would be with .xxx.

I would suggest that any company that preregistered their existing names as a preemptive protection against cybersquatting either post to this thread so that someone can assemble a list and send to ICANN, or, better yet, send an email to ICANN describing why you preregisted (if you did) and your intention not to use the domain if it is, in fact, approved.

Sorry to keep beating on this horse, but Lawley keeps trying to revive the dead horse, and we have to keep killing off his bullshit spin.
