Partitioning drive

I had to install a new hard drive in my pc and I also installed Vista. For some reason I forgot to partition the drive when installing it.

Is it really necessary to partition and if so should I go back and re-do it? In order to partition the drive I have to reinstall Vista all over right?

And the Vista installer also has a built in partition device so it will guide me step by step so I don't need any other programs, is that correct?

Also, the main benefits partitioning is so that data loads faster since the copy of Vista will be in a different partition and in case one partition is corrupted, the other ones will be saved, is that right?

Yea, I don't know too much about this, I always had someone partition it for me before...
