I'm in the need for a new PC, mine is about 3-4 years old, and my laptop is only 2 years old but the processor is really slow. I spotted this one on Tiger Direct and want to know if its a good deal. I know it's refurbish, does that make a huge deal?

I'm not a major gamer, I like Grand Theft Auto games, along with games like Age of Empires, but for the most part I won't use it THAT much for games. If and when I upgrade to Vista, I will most likely buy another GB of ram, but not right now.

I mainly do music producing and web design, plus the typical stuff such as e-mail, Internet, instant message. Loading times just get on my nerves, and it sucks cause the Desktop I got now is only 256 Ram and a P4 2.20 ghz processor.
Well theres your problem. I've been using this 2 ghz machine for years and haven't had any problems with it until recently (my fault, mostly heat issues, and to much hardware with too weak of a power supply). But I had a gig and a half of ram in it. I have another machine that is a dual core 3 ghz but only had 256 megs of ram. And it takes forever to do anything. I should take my own advice and get more ram for that thing, I might use it for more then just email.

Like I tell all my friends when they are buying systems. A nice fast processor is nice, but its better to get a 2.2 system with a gigs of ram, then a super spendy top of the line processor with 256 megs of ram.

But thats just me...

(edit) oh and with that tiger system, if you wanted a nice video card to go in those nifty pci-x slots, the 300 watt power supply isn't going to cut it.
