First I want to make it clear, I don't own a tin foil hat.
Did anyone see this documentary on Channel 4 in the UK last night?
Basically, if what they were saying is true then the reasons that we are given for global warming are a load of bullshit.
None of the guys on the program denied there was a rise in CO2 or a rise in temperatures, they just dispute the commonly known reasons.
Some of the points made:
Earths atmosphere is constantly changing temperature, as we all know, so changes over fairly short periods is basically irrelevant because it's been happening since the earth first existed.
Most of the rise in temperature over the last 100 years happened during a depression where there was less industrial activity and therefore less CO2 emissions, and during the boom in industry after WW2 there was actually a drop in temperature.
The models used to predict climate change do not include the sun or the clouds. Both of which according to the program have far more effect on our climate than us. They also predict twice as much CO2 in the models than is actually present. Only one variable in a model has to be wrong for the model to be wildly wrong.
Sun spot records over 400 years can be accurately used to predict the temperature, the guy saying this claimed he made a load of money by betting against predicted weather trends using his knowledge of sun spots.
There was something about solar radiation I think and it somehow has an effect on cloud formation, this could be linked to sun spots but i can't remember. But anyway, more clouds = warmer earth.
It also went on to describe how the Global Warming is now basically an industry in it's own right, their are endless groups doing research with multi million pound grants, with environmental journalists reporting their findings. It's in their interest to keep it in the public eye to maintain their money, noones going to pay someone millions of pounds for them to turn round and say sorry we were wrong there's nothing out of the ordinary.
It was a pretty convincing argument, i'm not saying it's true but it does make you think. I probably haven't explained it very well but it's worth a watch, here's a couple of clips I found

What needs to happen is both sides need to get together and discuss it on TV so they can explain themselves and question eachothers theories.
