Or you could try to run away, as you said, and be a draft dodger. It's come to my understanding that that's not the best label to have to live with for the rest of one's life, but hey, at least you'd be alive right?

Some things are worth resisting.
Being forced by the government to go and fight an economic war where there is no direct threat to the US? You call that freedom?
There is no human being more worthless or pathetic that he or she that would allow themselves to be used as a pawn by a government in any war that does not directly threaten their own homeland.
The only honorable war is a war of defence. If you're not fighting a war of defence then you are simply a paid mercenary.
