GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) -- A prominent Greensboro attorney is under arrest in connection with a financial crime investigation.

T. O. ?Pella? Stokes, 50, is charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense, attempted false pretense and two counts of criminal conspiracy. Stokes was placed in the Guilford County Jail under $100,000 bond.

Greensboro police said the financial crimes were a check scheme involving Wachovia, SunTrust and Woodforest banks. FOX8 News has learned part of the investigation involves $135,000 with SunTrust Bank.

Also arrested was Tramaine Denise Brown, 26. She is charged with felony obtaining property by false pretenses.
