I know what you mean about everything appearing so big - some friends of mine from England came to visit, and wanted to go to Disneyland, Seaworld (San Diego) and the Sierra Nevada's in the space of a day. They didn't realise California is bigger than England

Ah. Hubbby grew up in Manhattan Beach/ Hermosa Beach areas...and compared with many American accents, the British sound a bit more classy. Most of them, there are those who sound absolutely horrid on occasion...and if you don't have the ear for an Irish accent, God help you. You'll never understand a bloody word. (I'm Scot/Irish myself..surname "Kirby" before marriage.)
