Because any monies you give to her outside of the court ordered child support is considered a gift. So you can have a pile of check stubs a mile high and it won't make a bit of difference.
You really should have hired a lawyer on day one, do yourself a favor and hire one on Monday and see what your options are.
Every state is slightly different but the things I've mentioned so far are pretty standard across the board.
