I spent nearly 3 months in India, and roughly the last month in Ajuna, Arambol, and vagator (all very close). The raves aren't what they used to be, so I've heard. I wasn't there for the raves myself, so I'm not sure what really goes on behind authority knowledge. There was one article in the local newspaper that claimed that raves were organized very discreetly at night, and often changed location. (That's for the raves)
As for tranquility, nature, and beach accomodation; You will find that for sure! The beaches stretch out , with occasional rocky shores. Sometimes you may find yourself almost "deserted", if you're lucky not to get spotted by the local indian beach merchants, who can be very annoying. We heard that a little more south to Kerela is beautiful as well.
Whatch out for scammers: Ear cleaners, fortune tellers, fake jewelery, and don't go roaming at night, especially for woman. Local indian males often stalk and spy on female tourists who deliberately wear small bikinis or go nude. Remember, this country has very different traditions, so try to blend in.
