Yes - In the US
if you are a contract worker the company is required to have an I-9 form on file for you and to verify two pieces of ID in person - or two other combinations- but I doubt highly that these web companies have been asked for that type of documentation YET - all depends on how their lawyers advise them as to their "labor force" and its definition
