I won't argue that we haven't set-up (or helped set-up) governments that are still working well today. I guess my point is that when you invade a country, oust its leader then occupy that country with no time table for your leaving, it's pretty damned difficult to convice the people of that country that your way, your government is better.
There are very good ways to bring about change. Russia is a great example. We never invaded them, but we stood up to them and we worked behind the scenes to bring about change in that country. Eventally the people took over and harvested the seed we planted. Had we marched into Moscow with tanks and guns and told them communisim is bad, democracy is good we would have had a completely different response.
