Well, usually they are profoundly unconscious at that point, so they probably don't experience any pain or anxiety. Peopel rescued from that state usually have no memory of it at all.
It depends a lot on the dose they've taken. And exactly which opiate it is.
Fentanyl is strong enough to suppress the ability to breath directly.
