Gotta love how mechanically complicated and heavy a massive multi-valve overhead cam system is...
This is a common argument, it seems that it is somehow "unsophisticated" to use a simple, light, high-displacement engine.
The lowly 'pushrod' engines (a term that the valve-o-philes love to use to 'demean' OHV engines) built by GM - especially the jewel - the 7.0L 505hp engine in the Z06 - are the most powerful and technically advanced 'pushrod' engines ever mass produced. And, seeing as the Z06 is one of the lightest and fastest production cars on the planet - there seems to be little argument for a needlessly complicated low-displacement whiz-bang of an engine.
But, to each their own - some people like non-turbocharged torque. I happen to be one of those people. Sure, a 2.0L engine in an S2000 gets 120HP per litre because it revs to 9500rpm - but I dont drive on a racetrack every day, I drive on city streets and government highways.
