I have a Dell with the two harddrives (DataSafe), and after having it for about 6 months, one of the HDs went out on it. I called support and got the normal Indian/Afghani tech guy. He had me unplug and replug things, take drives out, etc...and by the time we were done, the fucking computer wouldn't work at all. So I took it to a local tech place, they sort of fixed it, but discovered a bunch of other stuff wrong with it, including the motherboard was going bad.
So I call Dell back, and they try to pass me off to tech support again. I went totally off on them, told them that I wanted to talk to someone who spoke English, etc...they finally put me through to someone who could almost speak English. Anyway, I kept arguing with him, he asked me what I expected him to do...I said either send me a fucking check or a new computer. 16 days later...I had a new Dell E520...Vista ready...sitting on my desk.
Moral of the story...Dell may be hard to deal with at first, and I still despise their tech support...but they do treat their customers right.
