You know, I just thought about this for a second and it started to dawn on me. My niece really doesn't have any regular exposure to black people on any level. St Clairsville is overwhelmingly white, and she has maybe 2 black kids in her school. She has met my old roommate a couple of times on Thanksgiving and she really likes him, but other than that zero life experience towards blacks.
