take this, for example. how many times would a person encounter this:
an interior decorator is called around to your home to redecorate your kitchen. he shows you a few samples of his work, in photograph form, which are absolute trash. they are sub-par. they are just plain bad quality.
but he assures you, "my work is excellent! and i'll do an excellent job in your kitchen!"
would you hire him after seeing those crappy samples?
