There's definitely a small town feel to the area (only about 25k permanent residents), and that's definitely different from the bay area, but it's nice.
Also, unless you're fully self-employed (which fortunately I am), be prepared to make make dogshit wages.

I've live here in Key West, FL for 10 years now. I like the small town feel and I'm used to "dogshit" wages. Working as a captain on the water I thought maybe there could be some jobs in the summer available. Then when winter came along I would love to work on a ski mountain or plow snow or something. The site I'm working on now is doing alright for some extra income too.
First thing I have to do is convince the wife. Anything I should not miss while I'm out there?
