Yes it does. You have to know how to setup operating systems, default windows installs are always a bit bloated and clunky, even 2000.
Vista is the same way, I can see how it would annoy the shit out of the average user with a default install. Especially the user access controls, and I think it had something like 60 process's running at first from all the unneeded services that enabled by default.
Vista may be slower in some benchmarks for now, but so was XP when it came out. When XP launched the gaming community hated it and swore to never leave 98se
Of course once hardware caught up that changed.
One of the things Vista excels at
right now is multitasking. It uses more ram because it caches more, but it also makes multitasking instant.
