i mounted the one in my bedroom and you just have to hit the studs .. the only hole i had to cut was a small hole so i could drill a hole in the 2x4 to feed the wires through. came out great and know I'm giving that bedroom to my Son and he is going to get the TV ... I have to start over in the new master sweet .. I'm not looking forward to it but it wasn't that bad
