Sorry to say it, but you have no excuse, and yes that really does make you an illegal.

I agree with this.

I know it's hard for Canadians to understand; even my wife doesn't really get it. I am entitled to EMERGENCY medical care at the hospital, for which I get a bill. I make every attempt to pay my bills.
A visitors visa is good for 6 months, then it can sometimes be renewed for 6 more months, which after that would mean you would have to go back to the states for at least 6 months.
You do not get any government assistance with this visa, as its more or less jsut alowing your to have an extended vacation.

Being that your married to a Canadian all it would have taken back in 2002 when you moved here to get permanent res and medical coverage, or even citizenship is 20 minutes of talking with an imigration lawyer, or sitting down and filling out a few forms that the immigration office will help you fill out.

Being that your now and illegal you could probably still get citizenship, but its going to be much harder, and I wouldnt be all that surprised if you were deported while everything was being settled.

I cant say I feel sorry for you, I mean your being lazy is the only reason you dont qualify for medical.
Instead of begging for money why dont you try and do something about it. I would have grabbed the yellow pages and called one of the immigration lawyers LONG befor begging for help. Hell do that tomorrow morning bright and early and see what they say.
