I know it's hard for Canadians to understand; even my wife doesn't really get it. I am entitled to EMERGENCY medical care at the hospital, for which I get a bill. I make every attempt to pay my bills.
Regular doctor visits and prescriptions don't fall under the category of emergency medical care. Apparently neither does opthalmology; I repeatedly requested an eye doctor while in intensive care but was never examined by one.

that is bs...Certain other individuals, such as some holders of study and/or work permits issued under the federal Immigration and Refugee Protection Act are deemed to be residents
whether or not you renewed your permit or not you were admitted under a work permit, you legally entered Canada as a worker. Also as a worker you are legally entitled to Medical Services. It is the law. Period. You had the choice at the time of being there to get medical and didn't...
either way better call MSP and get it sorted right away.
Medical Services can be backdated. It is simple. If you backdate it you will responsible for the past premiums, there is no freeride in life. Thats the way it is.
Either way do you have SSN?
