Are you surprised at those results? The general populous was being fed lies on a daily basis; they were essentially told that Iraq was full of Al Qaeda members and that Saddam was sucking their dicks and giving them reacharounds. They were fed lies about weapons of mass destruction that could be used in 45 minutes. After hearing the same thing over, and over, and over -- and with a general sense of wanting to believe in a government that actually gets their intelligence verified and wouldn't lie to them -- of course they were going to believe it.
It's the same reason that children believe in Santa. They are told that he exists over, and over, and over -- and with a general sense of the children wanting to believe that their parents would not lie to them -- of course they believe in Santa. Eventually the veil of deceit comes up. Excuse the poor analogy, but the same thing happened in Iraq. The veil of deceit was lifted up. Now what % of people support a war now that they know the truth?
