Of course it won't make the mainstream news. There is relatively little money to be made in curing cancer. Sure, the original discovers would get fame and notoriety but the ones who actually get to "help" patients would see little money from it. Mega drug companies are only interested in $$$, they could care less about your health. When they are looking at a person with cancer they don't see them as a person, they see them as a dollar sign. Since mega drug companies won't be able to patent this potential wonder-drug, they have no incentive whatsoever to do trials with it or make it more effective. They would much rather treat a sick person and get hundreds of thousands of dollars per person in the process. They don't care if they live or die... just as long as they get a little more of that green in their pockets.
