I personally wouldnt buy hundreds of domains. Its an added expense and not required.
Traffic is allways king. But imo get everything you can from the surfer.
Try to sell the free/tgp/hub surfers your avs pass, try to sell the avs surfers upsells, send avs surfers who dont want your sponsors to your other niched sites, where they may want something (click here for more of my sites or click here for more free pics). You may get away with sending those surfers to free sites that sell other avs's but that may get you into trouble.
