not sure if there are many places where you can read about it more, than on GFY.... basically after reading carefully a few GFY threads about it, you can get the idea.... and it seems like you already got it so not sure what I can add

there are so many points to consider here, so many different small aspects of it, heh

bottom line, ICM are hypocrits since they claim to have both the adult industry support (one look at GFY and you see its a bullshit claim) and also care about children's safety when surfing online

they try to convince the media, the government (the US government is against .xxx since Christian gropus are against it because they feel it will legitimize porn and increase the number of pornsites!) and ICANN that adult industry supports and that there's a demand for .xxx and that .xxx will ensure online safety for children

they are basicaly saying that a part of the adult industry (they call it "Responsible adult industry") - so f.e a big paysite network will suddenly abandon their 40 .coms paysites and switch their adresses to .xxx

They forget that the cost of such operation would be already a few $k (the .xxx domains would cost about $70-75 per domain, 10 times more expensive than .coms) and the benefits would be non-existent. The responsible adult companies already can use voluntary labeling systems, while the responsible parents can use "Safe surfing programs" or just disable adult content in their browser.... so .xxx will not solve anything

the companies who will actually register .xxx will not use them - they will register them only that noone else registers them (f.e. their competitors, or domain squatters) and also, that in case if .xxx would be made mandatory, they would own their domains

.xxx would also mean a legal battle, if there is a paysite bigtits.net, bigtits.com, bigtits.co.uk. and bigtits.de then who would get the .xxx adress?

there are soooo many different scenarios..... Im not saying .xxx will be a tragedy for adult biz.... (could be just an unneccessary cost) but we can't say that it wont.... if ICM convinces everyone that the "Responsible pornographers" are the ones using .xxx, then f.e the credit card companies may decide to proces only for paysites under .xxx

iffor.org/images/IFFOR_Org_Chart.gif

here's the organisational chart of those who will establish the "business practices" under which the .xxx paysite ownrs should operate - if they don't follow them, they may use their domains

oh and most likely you could say good bye to teen-porn as well.. you can read on iffor.org the business practises to know why
