I remember when I was enjoying food stamps..I didn't need them but fuck it, I was going through a divorce paying my lawyer 150 an hour and the free groceries were too strong of a lure. they were handing them out because of the kids....The only thing you had to do was go to an orientation where they offered you two choices of keeping your food stamps or welfare or whatever...You could either get in the line with the option of "acting" like you're looking for some bullshit job and then "document" it, OR you could go to your left where they had job training in auto mechanics, nurses assistants, office work, and the best offer I think was there, was a machining apprenticeship where they would PAY you to take a year long course in a shop doing stuff like regular machining or another higher level of machining that involved reading blueprints, learning math, etc..I can't remember what the name of that was but you would start at 12 an hour with plenty of overtime available and for a person with nothing more than a GED, it's the shit. ....And if you didn't have the transportation for your training or job hunting, THEY GAVE YOU A FUCKING MONTHLY BUS PASS.

I didn't need to do either since I was a webmaster but I still thought it would be nice to learn a free fucking skill on the govt's dime so I picked the machining training...I couldn't BELIEVE how many ignorant muthafuckas picked the job searching line while the job training tables looked like a fuckin ghosttown..And we all know how the "job search" scam is bullshit..NOBODY busts their ass that hard to find a job that reflects their documentation...However, there were plenty of fools loudly complaining about how long they had to sit there for the orientation and how hard it was for them to take time out of their day of sitting in the house to have to come to the office.

I didn't get to take the training because I got cut off of foodstamps when they did an income verification some months later but I would have just because...

Oh and I forgot a third option...You could enroll in the local community college and they would PAY you to get a degree...Hardly anybody chooses that option..If I got paid a check just to go to school, I'd have a PHD.

All I know is that if I ever had to go on welfare, you best believe I'd make a come up out of it. I'd figure out a way for them to pay for me to go to Medical School. Fuck it..There's PLENTY of opportunity out there but for a lot of people it seems like it's just easier to sit on your ass and wait for a check in the mail and learn to live off of that...
