In terms of the link lists/sites - I would aim for each of my little AVS sites to be submitted to thousands of link lists (i could probably dig them out over time by writing a crawler to locate them - and then build the DB up).

Going back to the example I have been referring to above. This guy submitted to 6-8 TGPs that I had never even heard of, so I don't think you need to submit to 1,000's of link lists. Besides, most of them want their recip on your site and that can be a huge traffic leak.
