I know several people who make a lot of money but spend it all on things they don't really need (like a big house or a BMW). If they get hurt or sick and missed a few paydays they would be in financial ruins. If I can't work for a year I would still be fine.
Honestly I would like to completely retire at about 50 (another 19 years away), move someplace warm and never work again. That is when all my work will pay off.
Who am I kidding? Some beautiful, high maintenance woman will catch me someday and I will end up with a big house, BMW and 4 kids to put through college. I will never retire and will feel like an idiot for not pissing my money away when I had it.

This thread is more about going out and enjoying the "nicer" things... fun clubs, some travel, good food, maybe some shows. If one wants to do those things and can afford it, why not do it?
