NOT saying that there is not some basis in truth, but there is also an AWFUL lot of spin.
For a really interesting look at the scaremongering tatcis of statistics, grab yourself a book from the 90's by P.J. O'Rourke called
"All The Trouble In The World" where he personally looks at and visits famine, pestilence and economic disaster zones. Fucking hilarious and fucking eye-opening.
