Property is rapidly rising in price - overall average is prob 20%, but much higher on the Pacific coast which is rising around 40-60% annually. There are still decent homes around from about $200K ish upwards, but also fairly expensive places. A few condo complexes are on the market at $1100 per finished sq ft - that's $2.75 mill for 2500 ft condo - crazy price for here.

A maid or gardner costs around $250 full-time for the month and generally food etc is cheaper than the US and certainly cheaper than the EU.

The government reckons a person can live on $1000/month - but I'd avoid trying that You can prob live OK here for $2000/month and anything from $3000K gives a lot higher lifestyle.

Other element is there are no taxes on net revenue - you can bring whatever funds you want into Costa Rica and no taxation on that.
Sounds heavenly.

I tell my boys that in 7 years, when the youngest turns 18, that I am selling everything, and going to go live on a beach somewhere and sell tshirts to tourists.

They think I'm teasing.

I'm not.
