I received a Panasonic 42" plasma (TH-42PX60U) for Christmas (manufactured dec. 2006 even) and it's a million times better than my old first generation plasma.
New one has ultra-black blacks, no more burn-in problem compared to old models. I'm very pleased with it to say the least. Impressive in HD as well.
