Build some sites and start making traffic and hard link trades. Make sure it's something you enjoy working on so you don't burn out.

A very wise statement indeed. If you're obsessed with stats, get Stats Remote or Unified Stats and let it obsess for you. You can take a quick glimpse every hour or two to see if anything changed.
