I'm talking 300 baud acoustic Atari modem. "Upgraded" to 300 baud Hayes auto-answer. Going to 1200 baud was a wet dream come true. By the time 2400 hit I was living on my own and could afford to buy those expensive buggers.

And 9600? Nobody could read that fast...what could anyone possible do with all that speed?!
