A reasonable estimate would probably be around $500K and 6 months. This is based on $150K for site design and programming, $100K for real (but dead) profiles from other dating sites, $100K for equipment (expect to spend a lot more once the site starts getting serious traffic), and $150K for miscellaneous expenses, mistakes, cost overruns. This is assuming you don't have any sort of infrastructure currently in place.

The major expense this estimate doesn't include is traffic. You could spend $5/day or $50K/day. Of course if you're spending half a million for a site I'd suggest making sure you have atleast $500K for the first 3 months of traffic, afterwhich you should start having a somewhat decent cashflow.
