Exactly how you tell the difference between those TWO TYPE IN.

That is a good question. Also, I could be sitting around all day typing in my own domain name. I could wear a shirt that says *************** and everyone who sees it might type it in.
I believe techniques like these could be discovered with a little closer look at the server logs. IP addresses. Traffic that comes much more heavily from Nevada than the rest of the U.S. might be a sign that something is going on in Nevada (like offline advertising, etc.). Plus, you need a significant time frame to analyze. Also, there are a lot of domain investors out there who know a lot of the domain sellers. Asking other domain investors (that you trust) about "sellers" can help guide you as well. Knowing who is trustworthy and who is not can help a bit. Sometimes nobody knows a domain seller. Luckily, I have sold to a lot of domain investors over the years without a single issue.
