While I am certainly not as old skool as many I have been around full time for quite a few years and here is my take on these two
TGP2 failed miserably because TGPs were already a successful business model that gave plenty away, made plenty of money and there certainly wasnt any kind of unity to change the direction the industry was headed.
The saying died a slow death because its simple. If everyone is giving less, then you give a little more then you make more.
I wish TGP2 had been successful and I wish that the saying were as true today as it was back in 97

I remember it, and it was the best concept for longevity. You 'tease' them into submission.
However this industry will always be it's own worst enemy. Flooding the net with endless freebies to the point some think they do not need to pay for porn. I've heard this plenty of times. Although it doesn't apply so much if you are in micro niches.
But this industry has, and will continue to slit it's own throat.
