namecheap is the only "cheap" registrar I have found to be worth a shit.
If you want premium 24 hour phone support and service to go with your domains then register.com is one way to go. They will sometimes even do a phone call if one of your domains is about to expire to remind you to renew.
Unfortunately, they aren't cheap. I guess they have to do something to pay for all their support people.
