For shits and giggles, install the Carpenter's dashboard widget. It plugs into the motion sensor - kinda handy when you're building a wall and you can't find your real level

I notice I really enjoy coding (php/mysql) on the Mac better than on the PC since it's closer to how it would run on my server. Parallels looks sweet.. I haven't really missed Windows tho with the Mac.
If you have installed the developer's tools, go to Library/Preferences in your home folder and open com.apple.terminal.plist property list - then start changing shit - especially opaqueness - mines set to 0.89 with a black background a text colors:
0.156 0.747 0.729 0.000 0.033 0.199 0.204 0.745 0.427 0.204 0.745 0.427 0.000 0.033 0.199 0.156 0.747 0.729 0.348 0.051 0.064 0.754 0.757 0.435

Just perfect for coding on the command line - opaque enough to see the text clearly, yet transparent enough to see text behind the window...
enable scrollback also - damn useful.

--edit to add
if you ever are ever editing a preference file (a property list/.plist file) and you want to go back to the defaults, just trash the offending .plist file and the next time you open the app, a new one will be created with all defaults in place.
