I thought he went bankrupt too. Maybe he is parsing the language. Maybe he is saying, yes his casino corporation was bankrupt, but he was never personally bankrupt.

It didn't hurt however that it would also reduce his personal debt, as Trump is likely the one every creditor would look to if the Taj Mahal couldn't pay up.
